"Negotiating with memories isn't easy: how to choose between those panting to be told, those still ripening, those already shriveling, and those destined to be mangled by language and come out pulverized?"
— Steve Toltz (A Fraction of the Whole)

Daniel Thomas Ogilvie Congrats Steve on a wonderful novel. This book is up there as one of my all time favs.

Alicia Ogg I find myself sneaking off to bed early, taking the long way home, just to steal a few more moments with this book- I am caught in a glorious love affair.

Richard L. Chad Right up there with with Gravity's Rainbow and A Confederacy of Dunces for zany, convoluted adventures.

Maria Mannix Laughed my tits off all the way through and wet myself more than once. Fucking amazing how someone can be so consistently funny in such an original way for a whole 720 pages - this guy is a genius

Catherine Edwards OMG - I wish it wasn't finished, just one more far-fetched adventure please!

A Fraction of the Whole is longlisted for the 2010 Impac Dublin Literary Award!

Miriam I think about this book at least once a day.

Chris Reagan Just finished the book tonight and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Far and away the most enjoyable read I've had in the last few years. I read it during my lunch breaks for the last month or so and it lived mostly on the passenger seat of my car. There were more than a few angry motorists in Ann Arbor honking at me becau...se I couldn't help but pick it up to read just a few paragraphs and proceeded to get distracted.

Holly This book is awesome, I'm about 3 quarters through and have loved every bit! Wish I didnt have to keep putting it down!

Nathaniel This novel is one of my favorites of all time. I loved it from start to finish. It's a mixture of the zany intellectual play of Tom Robbins, the characters that start to feel like old friends that John Irving writes, the propulsive insanity of Hunter Thompson, and the epic storyline reminiscent of Shantaram by Gregory ...David Roberts. I absolutely could not put it down and will visit it again and again.

Paul Sellers is 260 pages in n chuffed there is 450ish to go - brilliant

Cathrine Lødøen I go for *The Whole of the whole* - I LOVE this book. 5 stars. Thank you for a great read :-) ! Should have won the Booker ;-) !

Alok Pisharody
lame idea: the blurb of the book should be called "a fraction of the fraction of the whole."
