Deryck Nicholl Forgive and forget, how soon people forget the great player and captain he was for the Proteas RIP Hansie.

Inga I will always remember him as the one cricket player who hooked me on cricket when i saw him playing on tv back in 97. Until then id always found cricket as an irritation being broadcast instead of cartoons. We will always remember u, one of your fans

My youngest son was 5 when Hansie died, and had not yet picked up his first cricket bat and yet he wants to play like Hansie. I have no problem with that, he was a great cricket player, as long as that is where it stops and as he goes through playing cricket if he ever makes it to the level of playing for the Proteas, ...I pray to God if he is ever faced with the same things as Hansie, that he will have the strength and integrity to say no. Hopefully, before then, the cancer of match fixing will be dead and those responsible will be gone. Seven years after the death of Hansie, I still feel as though what happened goes further, deeper and higher than we will ever know. Hopefully, in the next seven years the level of integrity in the game of cricket will be raised and future players will have the guts to play to the best of their abilities in a true game, untarnished by crooked bookies and weak-charactered players. At the end of it all, Hansie, you were a great cricket player.Read more
