Marmite
Eat Marmite? You don't just want to eat it, you want to bathe in it, wallow in it like a hippo in mud, slather yourself from head to toe and wrap yourself in bread and butter... And you know what? That's fine. Just fine. Completely normal in fact...
Information
Founded:
It was in 1902 that the Marmite Food Company (later Marmite Ltd) was set up in Burton on Trent. Our mission, then as now, was to share the joy of Marmite-eating and make it available to all those with excellent taste.

Fiona Bond My latest jar of the yummy stuff seems different. It's darker and thicker than usual. Is it just my jar or has anyone else noticed any changes? I'm confused. Maybe it's just this batch.

heres something else interesting (though not recent):
I came across an interesting factoid about Marmite recently. Apparently, Edward de Bono, the father of lateral thinking, believes it could solve the Middle East crisis. His reasoning? Both Israelis and Palestinians have a diet largely based on unleavened bread, which... means that they don’t have a very high intake of zinc.
One of the main symptoms of zinc deficiency is increased levels of aggression – thus a society with low consumption of the mineral is likely to be more expansionist, quicker to anger and more violent in their approach to their neighbours. Marmite, being yeast-based and thus very high in zinc, could be shipped to Israel and the occupied territories to correct the peoples’ body chemistry. End of war!

Been to the pop up shop today! Very good if you are a fan of all things Marmite, and you can get a cuppa and Marmite on toast upstairs! Although I would say, unless you are going to London or live local enough so its not too much of a special trip, don't bother going as theres nothing much morw available in the shop ...thats not available online. Although seeing a shop dedicated to Marmite, is still pretty special!Read more

Any might-M fans within striking distance of Washington DC should come and see me on Capitol Hill tomorrow! To enjoy a Marmite infused snack and (hopefully) buy my book: The Mish-Mash Dictionary of Marmite: an anecdotal A-Z of 'Tar-in-a-Jar'. The 'signing' is at the American Legion, on the corner of 3rd and D Streets, ...SE, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The book will be sold for the RRP of $15, but $5 will be donated to the Legion, whose work is even more crucial than ever these days. And btw on offer will be the brand new breakfast bars - only available as yet at Morrison's in Jolly Olde. There will also be cheese-bites, a Marmalite cake and M-crisps!Read more
