I have now written a number of plain language summaries for the reviews in the Cochrane Collaboration.  Every time I read a new review I think ‘oh, good this will contain the answers to all my questions on a specific subject’.  Unfortunately it doesn’t work like that.

Yes i know that people in citie's drank ale because the water was so poluted,I watched Griff- Reese-Jones sierie's on river's in our island, one of the programn's dealt with the river Lea which drain's into the Thames,It turn's out that one man who had the cholera germ & who performed his ablution's every day into the River Lea caused the death of ... Read more100's if not 1,000's of people.I know that people drank ale because they knew the water was not safe,& it was once thougt that cholera was spread by the stench emniateing from the "raw sewerage pumped directley into the Thame's.It was'nt until a brilliant civil enginere came along in (victoria's reign i think)that this problem was solved by building propper sewage treatment plant's for London,of which most are still in use today,I can only remmember his surname-Basiljet i think, check it out if your interested. One other thing"I believe the ale brewed in these time's had an exceptionaly low alcahol content,& docker's & other heavy mannual worker's where given daily ration's of ale instead of water, the ration's where somthing like 10 pint's a day,so the alcahol content must have been extremly low otherwise they would'nt have been able to "Work"& there employer's would obviously go bankrupt,No the employer's gave the men ale because they knew it was the only thing "Safe"to drink,Commpletely different to today's alcoholic beverage's.

I’ve written a review about one of the newer medications – aripiprazole or Abilify.  The company that make it claim that it is a ‘third generation’ antipsychotic and acts on the brain in a different way to either the first or second generation ones.

News on mental health in the workplace:

Today NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) releases new public guidance on mental wellbeing in the workplace, urging line managers to identify mental health issues early and provide appropriate support.

Rethink has also produced guides for line managers because many ...lack confidence in talking about these issues with staff.

Read more by downloading this guide for free: http://www.mentalhealthshop.org/products/rethink_publications/we_can_work_it_out.html

This has been produced specifically for local authorities, but there is useful information for all line managers. If you would like your organisation to commission Rethink to create a guide specific for where you work, please let us know.

Wow. What a minefield of a first topic! But, that’s where it all starts, so it seems appropriate.  If a struggle with bipolar is a life-long journey, then the diagnosis is the birth of a monster.

Longer ago than I thought. 2003. Time has flown by. My opponent Shaun Whitehead helped with the fundraising as did the governing body the International Kickboxing Federation. It was a great event on the undercard of a major show which had title fights on the bill and Radio1 DJ Tim Westwood compering.
I remember police officers & paramedics who were... Read more there coming over after the bout and asking me about Rethink's work as these guys are often at the sharp end when dealing with service users. All helps in raising awareness and breaking down barriers.

Challenge stigma with just one click!
Want to end mental health discrimination? So do we.

90% of people who have experienced mental illness, have also faced stigma. This can seriously affect the health, welfare and quality of life of people with mental health problems.

That's why Rethink and Mind are running a four year ...anti-discrimination campaign 'Time to Change' which works with people around the country to challenge this stigma. We have created a huge visual pledge which aims to be the biggest show of support for an end to mental health discrimination.

Help us end discrimination with just one click. Email your MP with our pre-written letter and ask them to add their face to Time to Change's visual pledge (http://digg.com/u1FJzY). It already has the support of over 2,100 people and we need politicians to play their part and use their influence to eradicate stigma once and for all.
Thank you.

ab I never mention my schizophrenia to just anyone. It is something I save for people I want to go away. Mental illness, especially serious mental illness, does not bring out the empathy in people. Partly that's media mis-representation and partly it is the use of meaningless labels that should be abandoned because of their social impact. I have a integrative disorder not a split mind.
