Helen

Helen Does anybody else read New Scientist? In the 28th November issue there is an article about "Inconspicuous Consumption" (the damage we're doig to the planet with everyday products) by Dave S. Reay.
One of the products featured is Toilet Paper! There is a chart asking "How green is you toilet roll?" which toilet paper co...mes out top on ethical rating? Traidcraft's of course...be proud of yourselves everyone:)

John McCreesh

John McCreesh I went on a 'People to People' tour three years ago. We often wonder what's happening at the various producer groups we met, and how we can help (other than by promoting their products :-). Would it be a good idea to help producers to sign up to a scheme like GlobalGiving http://www.globalgiving.co.uk/index.html ?

Thanks for the suggestion, John. We will certainly look into it.

If you could let me know which groups you visited, we will try to give a brief update on them.

And do keep promoting their products. The main thing that producers always say is that they want "more orders".

We went to Bangladesh: The Jute Works; Swajan; BRAC / Aarong; the UBINIG folk at Tangail; Action Bag / Eastern Screen Printers.

We got the 'sell more products' message loud and clear from the Jute Works group at Gazipur ... http://tinyurl.com/5e45j8

Laura Tjon Tsoe Jin If you’re concerned about Fair Trade and food sustainability please help Fairfood International spread her message: Eat fair, beat hunger! Check out our new Facebook application to play a game knocking “unfair” products off supermarket shelves. Then send a letter to supermarkets asking about the sustainability level of... soy in their products.http://apps.facebook.com/playitfair/index

This is a fantastic idea - not only for marketing to the Indian middle classes, but tourists and travellers - a lot of whom spend (comparatively) a lot of money in India in an attempt to change lives through trade informally
