WordLive I guess you may have difficulties, as I do, with what Jesus really wants for you and from you (v 15). But the Holy Spirit is right alongside you, willing to help you. Jesus told his disciples what his Spirit would do for them (vs 25–27). Don’t miss out.

WordLive Jesus knows that we will go through tough times. Share those times with God now.

‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. My Father's house has plenty of room; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.’ John 14:1–14

WordLive ‘As I have loved you, so you must love one another’ (John 13:34). What a tough command! Or is it? Perhaps we underestimate the power, potential and infinity of the love we have received from Jesus. Reflect on this as you listen to this song.

WordLive ‘What does it mean? What’s going on here?!’ Do you ever feel like that with the Bible, or about what God seems to be saying to you?

You’re in good company – Peter wasn’t getting it in John 13:18–30.

WordLive ‘No,’ said Peter, ‘you shall never wash my feet.’ Jesus answered, ‘Unless I wash you, you have no part with me’ (v 8). Is there something you know Jesus wants to do for you – or for someone else, through you? Are you resisting him? Decide to do some ‘feet-washing’ today. Ask God to lead you to the person he has in mind.

WordLive Get hold of your church newsletter, friends’ prayer news or go through your recent Facebook wall posts. • Find out where your friends may be having a difficult time. • Pray for them, one by one. • What are your weaknesses? Offer them afresh to the Lord that his power may be seen in your weakness, and that you may serve humbly, just like Jesus.

WordLive ‘Dear Lord, in my weakness and humility, grant me strength and lift me up through your love. Amen.’

‘But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.’ 2 Corinthians 12:1–21

On the main SU site there is a really good piece about how to talk to children about Halloween, you can read the whole article here. However, I thought it might be interesting to get a few thoughts from anyone reading this this blog...
WordLive

WordLive We are insignificant compared to God, and yet God loves us. Pray.
2 Corinthians 11:16–33
‘If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is to be praised forever, knows that I am not lying.’

WordLive Are there ways in which you are being tempted to accept a ‘different Jesus’ or ‘different gospel’?
Could you be getting it wrong – in what you believe, or in things you do? Are there aspects of the gospel that you prefer to overlook?

In our accepting, pluralistic culture, we might not realise that we’re in a fight. But that doesn’t alter the fact that we are. And it’s a fight that we can’t win bare handed, no matter what moves we may have up our sleeves. We need weapons.

What is our chief weapon? Ephesians 6:17 says that it’s God’s Word. Using and a...pplying God’s Word, and building our lives upon it, means we can demolish strongholds – no matter how long they have been established.

WordLive Joseph had plenty of reasons to hold onto bitterness over all that had happened to him because of his brothers. Instead he lets go and looks forward to the future.

Where are you holding on to bitterness today? Talk to God and read today's WordLive.

WordLive We all have a part to play. Commit your life to play your part.

Genesis 49:1–28
‘Then Jacob called for his sons and said: “Gather around so I can tell you what will happen to you in days to come. “Assemble and listen, sons of Jacob; listen to your father Israel.”’

WordLive

WordLive You may not know what God has planned for you. But you can begin the negotiation… pray.

In Genesis 47:1–31, Joseph and Jacob didn’t look back, but prepared in different ways for their futures.
• Ask God to help you be resolutely future-focused, always living in the direction he is heading.
• Where is God leading you – as individuals, as part of Christ’s body?
