My husband served in the armed foces for 10 years. During that time I saw a poem in the paper, which always reminders me what effect it has on familes and why we should remember.

A picture in my mind I see,
Of my brave soldier and little me,
He's quick, courageous and oh! so strong,
I'll see him soon, it won't be long.

He ...protects our land for all our nation,
Sending quivers of exhilaration,
So proud to defend country and queen,
You don't see him go, though you know where he's been.

He is a fighter a professional,
He'll jump to her Majestys' beckoning call,
He travels afar and overseas,
To honour our nation - no rest has he.

Everyday his life is in danger,
Obeying commands of an eminent stranger,
Adrenalin pumping and always aware,
Combating the horrors that might be there.

So proud am I for his love of his Queen,
I know number 2 I have always been,
But my soldier, my husband, my love is he,
And when he returns home, IT IS TO ME.

Even those that survived...wow, take the time to listen to their stories and look through their albums. Unbelievable! An 84 year old man told me about Remembrance Day (Poppy) when I saw the Red poppy on his shirt....he made the history came alive for me and I will also take the time to remember..like Monica Michael sai...d, We cherish too, the Poppy red, That grows on fields where valor led;It seems to signal to the skies that blood of heroes never dies.Read more

There are no speeches, poems, or lyrics that can fill the permanent void, gone forever reality, and heart pounding grief that we all share for the fallen heroes that gave their lives protecting our freedom. We Will Never Forget.
And to those who currently stand ready to protect our great nation we are overwhelmingly pro...ud to salute you, stand by you, and pray for you. God Bless you and keep you safe, God Bless America.Read more

I will always respect and remember those who fought in WWI and WWII for our country, not the rich generals mind you, the average guy who went out of his way to protect our land.

However, this year I did not wear a poppy, as I believe that the iraq and afghanistan wars were wrong, and after resources, steeped in governme...nt corruption. This year they were pushing soldiers in the recent "battles" its still a sad loss of life but 7 people dying compared to the millions in the first two world wars were far more poignant. As they fought to defend our country, not invaded someone elses!

My grandad was in the R.A.F. and I will always remember him dearly, and think about him every time I see a spitfire. bless him.
