Lawrence Foster

Lawrence Foster Having been a Carer in the past for my late parents, I know the stress that a Carer has but what I tend to do these days is to try and help people in life, Clasp the Leicester group still send me their leaflets on a regular basis.

Hi Lawrence,
Carers UK branches are often run by people with recent caring experience, like yourself. They know what others have gone through and want to make it easier. Many of our members were instrumental in getting carers services set up in their areas and continue to act as a voice for carers.

Hi Lawrence,
Thanks for the vote of confidence and great to have your support. Couldn't agree more about lack of knowledge of benefits. On Carers Rights Day we'll not only be telling carers about what their rights are but also the people they care for, including those entitled to AA.

Regards

Carers UK A carer has just been in touch, mad at not being able to get help with cleaning. She's struggling to clean both her house and her mother's, whilst at the same time having to get her mother washed and dressed and meals prepared. A direct payment could help but carers say getting a cleaning service is a tough battle...

Jayson Lowery In a nutshell, cleaning, washing. heating, time etc are bigger problems than what the council could help with, but i am struggling with these and finance which is why i'm thinking bout direct payments even fr just cleaning

Jayson Lowery I dont work or get council help. If i did work i'd need help six in the morning and last thing at night,as well as during day. I pay for own cleaning and spend loads on heating and washing. If i did take work i'd need hrs of help. I dont think the SS could help me but do you think direct payments would help my situatio...n???? bearing in mind i dont get help now

Carers UK Some info here for carers about the digital switchover scheme.

www.carersuk.org
Between now and 2012, television in the UK is changing to digital and the older, analogue TV signal will be switched off by ITV region. Those who don’t have digital TV by the time of switchover will lose their TV service but help could be available for the person you care for.

Carers UKDirect payments are not like benefits - totally different system. It is cash paid to disabled people so they can employ their own workforce. They effectively become a small business. Carers UK has information on this
http://www.carersuk.org/Information/Directpayments

Also we have done research based on carers who are already using Direct payments and what they had to say about it. 3 out of 4 carers rated direct payments better than the services they previously received from their council.

Jayson Lowery Just the people in the street that you can talk to and collect off. Its the only way i can think of to make a point. You dont get real media attention. There are thousands of carers like us just ignored. The govt gives more help to drug addicts in finding work etc but i do think we should be classified as employed---it...s criminal for us to be catergorised with people doing sod all
