South Of Stephen was recorded over a 6 month period in 1999 when Stephen was living in a cottage in the woods and working full time selling advertisements for a small music publication. "It was a dark period in my life because all I felt I had was that album. The record seemed like my only possible ticket out of my life at that time. I had just gotten out of college and I was working a job I didn't care for, I'd call home and tell my mother how I felt like a caged animal. It sucked." While the roots rock songs on South of Stephen in face have set Stephen free of his ad man life, more importantly they've given a great many countless hours of listening pleasure.
