Description
Before you gather your fellow Muggles for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” refresh your memory of the whole the mystical saga by hosting or attending a viewing party of “Harry Potter and ..." “the Sorcerer’s Stone”, “the Chamber of Secrets”, “the Prisoner of Azkaban”, “ the Goblet of Fire”, "the Order of the Phoenix", or all five in a row, if you’re convinced that watching them all won’t have any adverse magical effects!
RSVP: Let us know if you plan to host or attend a Harry Potter movie viewing party! Tell us about your plans and ideas, or share pictures after your event.
We’ve provided a range of ideas below, to help you and your family (or a few friends) experience a mystifying Harry Potter party that will impress even the most savvy sorcerers!
Décor and Activities:
- Don’t forget the glasses, Harry can’t see very well without them! http://bit.ly/IvsGU
- Make your own wizard hats http://bit.ly/YXJUt and break out a sheet or towel to add a cape to your ensemble!
- Really get into character by adorning your children's foreheads with a Harry Potter-esque lightning-bolt tattoo! http://bit.ly/37u27W (facepaint or washable marker would work well, too)
- Come dressed the colors of your Hogwarts house of choice (no, you don’t have to rely on the Sorting Hat to choose): http://bit.ly/18AgKJ
- Host your own Muggle Quidditch match: http://bit.ly/Nk1kq
- Or for more casual, broomstick-shy audiences, hide a “Golden Snitch” (any golden object should do) and have the Seekers go find it!
- If you have any plastic Easter eggs lying around, you can fill these “Dragon Eggs” with goodies and hide them throughout your house for your guests to find. Of course, the bigger the egg the better!
- Test your Harry Potter knowledge by playing a game of Scene It? Harry Potter 2nd Editon (http://bit.ly/3YFyAI) or hosting a trivia battle of your own (http://bit.ly/XQAsF).
Food:
- Whip up one of these ten great Harry Potter recipes: http://bit.ly/15Eekr
- Harry Potter owl-themed rice cakes: http://bit.ly/12IUDA
- Butterbeer recipes for the young, and some for the older crowd: http://bit.ly/8eXKb
- How about going authentic with some of Harry Potter’s favorite British foods? http://bit.ly/7wc11
- Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans, complete with flavours like dirt and rotten egg: http://bit.ly/1b7AjS
- Allow guests to concoct their own “potions” by supplying any variety of beverages (soda, juice, milk, syrup, soy sauce … you get the picture)
