The Official Petition for a more Accessible Facebook

Common Interest - Beliefs & Causes
Description:
While the new facebook may look pretty to some, facebook has repeatedly ignored accessibility. For the growing number of people with visual impairments as well as learning disabilities using screen readers, screen magnification software, or any other addaptive software or hardware many parts of facebook are unuseable or horrendous looking. It is time for Facebook to take a stand and make its website useable for all. Please invite all your friends to this group to show your support for this cause. (read more)

News:
For those members experiencing this first hand, please post all the problems you are having. I am going to start an extensive list here.

The things that FaceBook ignores when it comes to accessibility:
1. A person using a visual impairment (whether using a screen reader or some other assistive software/hardware) cannot register without assistance.
2. Gifts are impossible to select and send to your friends. (go facebook, this has been corrected).
3. It is impossible to edit your newsfeed preferences (what you see on your newsfeed).
4. The new layout is horrible to navigate with the "drop down" menus.
5. Many drop-down boxes do not get read for some reason.
6. For partially sighted persons, there is no way to adjust text size. You say "wow, they are demanding", this is something really easy to do.
7. If facebook only knew how bad the web page looked layout wise with a screen reader, they would run and hide.

More coming soon.
