Tell IHOP to move away from Cruel Battery Cages
| IHOP's Animal Cruelty Exposed | Take Action |
|---|---|
IHOP's short stacks are long on one ingredient that few of the chain's diners might expect: animal cruelty. An undercover investigation (watch the video above) has revealed shocking abuses at IHOP's egg supplier. As you can see, the footage reveals filthy conditions, sick and injured hens, and birds forced to live in cages with the decomposing corpses of their cage-mates. Each hen laying eggs for IHOP is confined in a battery cage about the size of a file drawer that contains several birds—giving each animal less space than a sheet of paper on which to spend her entire life. They can't even spread their wings. It's hard to imagine a more miserable existence. Major restaurant chains like Denny's, Burger King, Wendy's, Quiznos, Hardee's and Carl's Jr. have already started using some cage-free eggs, but IHOP refuses to follow their lead. It’s time for IHOP to move in the right direction! Please take action. *Update 11-20-09: The HSUS launches a TV ad targeting IHOP for animal cruelty. *Update 10-14-09: IHOP Faces SEC and FTC Complaints Over False Animal Welfare Claims to Investors and Consumers |
