It's not bad to eat raw onions. Drinking milk is the same for spicy foods. When serving rice to children, give them a glass of water.... it allows the rice to settle in their stomach and make them feel more full now, rather than bloated later.

I simmer them until they start to give their odour, or float, then it's straight off the hob and drain. I always serve veggies onto the plate last. My daughter loves how I cook veggies. It's the first thing she eats off the plate. I don't mean vegetarians. ;)
