Mark Your Calendars :: October 24, 2009 :: International Day of Climate Action

350.org is an international campaign dedicated to building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis--the solutions that science and justice demand.350.org is calling on people around the world to organize an action on October 24 incorporating the number 350 at an iconic place in their community, and then upload a photo of their event to 350.org website:

http://www.350.org/plan

Why 350? 350--as in parts per million, the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. But 350 is more than a number--it's a symbol of where we need to head as a planet.

MobileActive.org is an organization pioneering the use of mobile technology by nonprofits. All nonprofits should be closely following this organization and the mobile technology trend. Some of the content is a little tech heavy and difficult for complete newcomers, but mobile tech is something that all nonprofits need to become more familiar with. Since 2005, MobileActive.org has been educating the nonprofit sector that mobile tech was coming and that it was going to play an integral role in communications and development in the 21st Century. I was not a believer until this year. The same is true with most nonprofits, particularly in the United States... the potential of mobile technology for nonprofits just was not shining through.

But today, the mobile technology is finally becoming more affordable and the statistics on mobile subscribers just can not be ignored any longer. The potential there is huge and the launch of the iPhone has transformed mobile tech and the Mobile Web.

About MobileActive.org:

MobileActive.org is a community of people and organizations using mobile phones for social impact. We are committed to increasing the effectiveness of NGOs around the world who recognize that the 3.5 billion mobile phones provide unprecedented opportunities for organizing, communications, and service and information delivery.
