The Derby Sustrans Rangers have put together this guide to help you ride from East Midlands Parkway railway station to BikeRadar Live at Donington Park.

The ride is just over 7 miles long, so should be suitable for most abilities.

What better way to explore the beautiful countryside surrounding Donington Park than to join us on one of our family rides? The choice of two distances – 30 miles and 8 miles – should suit both the beginner and more experienced riders alike, and led by the Derby Group of Sustrans Volunteer Rangers, will use parts of the National Cycle Network Route 6 – a converted railway path – which runs close by Donington Park. Simply register at the Sustrans stand early to guarantee your place.

From East Midlands Parkway railway station follow exit road to traffic lights. Straight ahead towards Ratcliffe on Soar and Kegworth.

Right over river into Kegworth.

Cross Ring Road (A5111) at Toucan crossing. Follow R6 Cyclepath towards Melbourne/Leicester alongside former Derby Canal for 2.8 (4.9 total) miles to Swarkeston Lock then Left on Trent & Mersey Canal towpath.

Right onto old railway track towards Leicester

Right (just after 1st of 3 over bridges), Right along rough track and then Left to Wilson
