The Team Building exercises conducted by the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard were part of an orientation exercise for new post-graduate students of Arthur Lok Jack GSB. Leadership development was the main focus in these exercises. Students were placed in groups and were required to complete given tasks (conducted on ...land & sea) in limited time with limited resources. Each student was given an opportunity to lead their respective team in executing these exercises. At the end of each exercise, the team evaluated the leader and provided feedback with the consultation of members of the coast guards.



These are a few comments from students at the end of the sessions:

-I am motivated to learn and face the challenge of the post-graduate programme

-I’ve learnt that nothing is impossible to achieve, even with little resources and little time permitted

-I particularly enjoyed the one day leadership exercise

-The exercises were an inspiration and gave me some hope for the future as a leader.

-I’ve learnt there is more than one way of doing something.

-Finding creative and innovative ways in leadership are key to motivating and leading a team to achieve a goal.
