Language is fascinating... words fall in and out of fashion, some words get misused, or others reclaimed.
I put up a post on a messageboard asking disabled people to nominate the words they didn't like - words that felt like swear words - and asterisked out the vowels to make it clear just how dirty some of 'em are...

On 1st October 2004, new laws under the Disability Discrimination Act came into force, giving disabled people new legal rights.
However, many people felt these laws did not go far enough, or make changes to things that were important to them.
I'm an artist who makes work about the life experiences of disabled people. ...I made this exhibition in collaboration with disabled people in Milton Keynes to show what people thought really mattered with regard to access and rights.Read more
