- David Norris is an Irish civil rights campaigner, former university lecturer, Joycean scholar, campaigner for the preservation of Georgian Dublin, and longtime member of Seanad Éireann. He is the founder of the Campaign for Homosexual Law Reform and in 1987 became the first openly gay person to be elected to office in Ireland.
