The EIFF's move to June was a decision considered by the Board over a long period of time, with a painstaking period of research and discussion underpinning it.

The overwhelming feedback we have had from Edinburgh people (who do represent the bulk of our public audience) is delight that they will no longer have to choos...e between August festivals, but will be able to experience to experience the Film Festival as a whole and in its own space. It opens up opportunities for the festival to grow and develop which simply weren’t there in August.

We hope you can make it!

The move to June was undertaken precisely to ensure the maximum benefit to the audience: it opens up opportunities for the festival to grow and develop which simply weren’t there in August.

I certainly don't find myself shamed in the slightest by the move, nor by the programme we have put together for the first June fes...tival. I'm sorry that you won't attend to see it, and I wish you well. .
