If only we had this option when the new west end agreement was being made.

Yes Steve. A protest in Parliament Square we did not have.

Because Equity 'advised' us to say YES before it got to protest level. And now i, like 70% of performers in the west end, am looking for a second job to be able to live in London (after another RECORD YEAR in the West End. SEE: Yesterdays Evening Standard.)

Ah unnerstaun why members were advised tae accept the deal; timin haed a HUGE impact ne that wis doon, fir the maist part, tae the employers. Ah wisnae happy wi the deal but members DID accept it.
We need tae fight fir whit we huv left ne we aw need tae be mair active. If WE stick thegither, we'll achieve things; if we fragment, we'll destroy oorsels.

I turned down the opportunity of a West End role recently as it had been reclassified as "Ensemble" when it obviously isn't. The role WAS worth around £1400 a week but has now been cut to around £700 apparently. Is this really happening in Town? Someone let me know. Thanks.

All ironic considering the initial reason for the new agreement was to improve the pay for West End performers. It seems most are now worse off than before.
It would be interesting to know how many of those who actually voted for the new agreement had been involved in the negociations and therefore really knew why it had been turned down so many

times in the first place. It seemed to go through just as a host of shows closed or were recast. Therefore all the opinions of those people who had been involved were no longer considered. An awful lot of West End performers who are affected by the agreement were ignored simply because they weren't in a show at that specific moment.

does no one else think that 700 pounds for a weeks work is alot of money and shouldnt be sniffed at?
