Gentleman’s Dub Club Live - www.myspace.com/gentlemansdubclub
Gentleman’s Dub Club is a nine-piece band that formed in Leeds in early 2006. With a style based in dub, ska and roots reggae, GDC have burst onto the UK circuit, rocking gigs and festivals up and down the country with their super high energy show. Combining tight grooves and a heavyweight sound, Gentleman’s Dub Club bring the party to crowds of all ages hungry for a dance floor workout, with their gigs often ending in a frenzied mosh pit reminiscent of a mid 80’s ska night. Live effects and mixing make for a crystal clear sound, and the band’s larger than life stage presence makes for a mesmerising experience.
The Correspondents Live - www.myspace.com/thecorrespondentsmusic
DJ Chuckles and Mr Bruce are The Correspondents. This veteran duo play swing with a contemporary twist; the Big Band sound of the 20s and 30s is revamped for the 21st Century. Chuckles is the music maker, a highly skilled producer who is difficult to pigeon hole. His tracks are lyrical and jazzy yet they bounce like hip hop, they are intricate yet his tunes are woven together with a pervading humour. His talent as a producer is matched by his agility as a DJ. He has an uncanny ability to judge a crowd and make them jive laying down a history of upbeat swing from Benny Goodman to Jurassic 5. Mr Bruce is a modern day dandy whose singing (and dancing) is equally difficult to categorise. Despite growing up on a diet of jungle and drum'n'bass, he is an eloquent MC who scats and sings like a cabaret compère about clowns, rogues and two tone brogues.
Kidkanevil - www.myspace.com/kidkanevil
Kidkanevil is currently one of the UK’s finest hip hop producers. Hailing from Tokyorkshire, he released his first album ‘Problems and Solutions’ in 2007, and his second album ‘Back Off Man, I’m A Scientist’ in 2008. His DJ sets mix up Hip Hop, Reggae, Dubstep, Jazz and Worldwide Funk and have been rocking dancefloors all across Europe.
Stenchman - www.myspace.com/stenchmandubstep
Stenchman is one of the fastest rising Dubstep stars in the UK. A former Drum & Bass producer, Stenchman found his unique style in the expansive Dubstep sound. Stenchman shares the heavy weight title with other rising Dubstep producers such as Caspa, Rusko, Bar9, Jakes, Reso, and Nero. Each of these artists have a distinctive production style that is completely their own; however, all are bound by a single commonality – heavy crunchy bass. Infamous for his barnyard vaudevillian antics during his sets, Stenchman is more than a mere Producer and DJ. Stenchman is a performer. Beneath his Texas Chainsaw–meets-Scarecrow mask, Stenchman will spit perversities and politics in a single poetic measure.
PhutureSonic Live - www.myspace.com/phuturesonic
Phutresonic started as a studio based project by Henry G (worked with Sarah Winton from “Nightmares on Wax – Carboot Soul" album and remixed Jeremy Sylvester tune “Bodypoppin” which was featured by Jay Cunning on Kiss FM) as an outlet for his love of breakbeat, hip hop, drum and bass, jazz and funk. He quickly realised he wanted to give a stronger song dynamic to his music and started working with vocalist/rapper MelanieJane (as featured on Fullcycle Records, Bluebox Records, Passenger Records “Girls and Boys” Breakbeat Anthem, 777 with Blu Rum 13 and Nuuf Records). They started doing some live PA’s and soon came across underground rapper/MC Jon Audio (209 – Bohemia Records, Oojammi – Glastonbury and O2 Academy as well being on the same bill and supporting the likes of Ugly Duckling, Jehst, Taskforce, Phi-life Cypher, Illaman, Scratch Perverts, Vadim and Atomic Hooligan). With this added vocal element they were able to develop song based tunes which they have defined as FUNK HOP. After numerous successful live PA shows(lovebox, jamm, SE 1 Club, V Fest), it became clear that a live band was the next step, and consequently the idea for the Phuturesonic live band was hatched.
Tempo Tantrum - www.myspace.com/tempotantrumrecordings
The Tempo Tantrum crew are at the forefront of the capital's dance music scene. As promoters, they have been running nights in London for the past
decade, with a reputation for innovation that continues to grow. Bringing together the flavours
of drum and bass, dubstep and broken beat under one roof they have represented at a host of events, from Hospitality to the Reading Festival. They have also brought their unique flavours to vinyl, with a set
of 12" releases on their label that have garnered plaudits from the likes of DJ Mag, Mixmag and Knowledge while achieving airplay on Radio 1, 1Xtra
and Kiss FM. Read more
