The Goethe-Institut New York organizes and supports a broad spectrum of cultural events that present German culture and promote international cultural exchange. The work of our language department concentrates on training workshops and seminars for teachers of German and close collaboration with the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG). We offer a wide range of marketing and teaching materials tailored towards American initiatives supporting German as a foreign language. Language courses are offered in cooperation with our partners at the Deutsches Haus of New York University. The library and information service of the Goethe-Institut in the US is centralized at the Goethe-Institut New York. The Library aims to provide an accurate, pluralistic view of German culture, politics and society. Moreover, we offer the public a multifaceted collection of books, audio-visual materials, newspapers and journals as well as access to databases and an ongoing exhibition of new German literature.
