It doesn't feel like long ago at all I was talking of Uncharted, speaking of its high qualities and hoping it would be the start of a long and beautiful series. I really liked that game - not spectacularly original, but well implemented across the board, nicely plotted and bursting with charm...

Have you ever considered writing a game?

Ouch.I need to say that again. Ouch.I loved the first couple of series of the Shield. It was tough, hard, morally ambiguous in a way I hadn't really seen in cop shows before. Had a killer twist in the very first episode...

So I've dropped a couple of hints that I'd have a short story in an anthology coming out next year...

Rugged frontiersman Anton Vuorilheto sent me this photo of him getting closer to nature with his Best Served Cold. Watch out for that waterfall, Anton! How do you eat yours?

So I'm off to be a guest of honour (I know, stop laughing, they are clearly using 'honour' in its broadest possible sense) at Fantastyval, a fantasy festival (No!) in Holland from 16th-19th October...

And beware of spoilers ahead.Hmmm. Watched the final season (or half season) of the new BSG not long ago, a show that I loved the first couple of seasons of, but had mixed feelings about the third. So did they pull it all together in the final episodes? Well .....

An interesting negative review of Best Served Cold from Elizabeth Vail at Green Man Review got me thinking a little bit t'other day, not only because it's quite amusingly snarky, but also because it seems to coalesce some criticisms of the book I've seen a few times, and also hints at some...

Some time has passed since I last stole from port before first light and trawled the internet for reviews like an illegal trawler trawling the North Sea for cod in contravention of the EU's fishing policy. Except that in my case, however hard I trawl, the stocks never seem to reach exhaustion...

The best thing about Abercrombie books is the characters, closely followed by re-readabilty! Every time I read the original trilogy again I notice some small detail which hints at what's to come. Reading them with retrospect really makes the story entirely different. He's my idol

How can you take something so good,Adapt it so faithfully,And end up with something so dull?4/10

Wrong, wrong, wrong. You can write, but you're entirely wrong about this. An intelligent, powerful adaptation that cuts out the bullshit from Alan "I'll have you know I'm The Second Coming" Moore's work and makes it live in a way I'd never have though possible. Seriously, you were bored?! Get a longer attention span! I read all of "Before They Were... Read more Hanged" and didn't stop at the ENDLESS FUCKING PERIODS OF NOTHING. (Have ordered Last Argument Of Kings btw...you'd better deliver a decent pay-off with reagards to said ENDLESS FUCKING PERIODS OF NOTHING) Opposing this film is like voting for Hitler; lots of fucktards did it, but that doesn't make it right.
Having established that you're pissing into the wind so as to make a bigger splash, I withdraw before degenerating into the opbvious response of starting a Flame War.

Wow, what a great film. Probably the best big-budget sf film I've seen since ... erm ... have there been any other good ones recently...

So there is to be a new UK Mass-Market Paperback Edition of THE gritty epic fantasy debut of 2006 (obviously excluding Scott Lynch's, Brian Ruckley's, or Tom Lloyd's, and no, Pat Rothfuss was 2007, you cheeky so-and-sos), The Blade Itself , appearing in time for Christmas, and it looks a-little...

With Best Served Cold already three months out (can it really be so long?), perhaps the time has come to talk a little about my next book...

So some time back in June some guy called Lev Grossman emails me and asks (very politely), since his book is paired with mine on amazon uk, whether I'd fancy reading it, since he was getting a copy of Best Served Cold...

How odd, I saw this book in the airport and didn't buy it because I'd just bought Last Argument!

Wishing I'd release another trilogy? Great news, everyone, I have! A trilogy of guest blog posts, that is, at amazon.com's omnivoracious, on the subjects of my inspirations for Best Served Cold...

More opinions on my writing pour out into the ether with every exhalation, it sometimes seems, and some over the last few weeks from notable sources too...

Got to take your side against Jonathon Goodwin, Joe.
I have to dispute his critisism about characterisation - one of the main reasons I bought the rest of the trilogy was because of the characterisation. He's probably jealous that his book didn't get published! (I don't know if he's even written one - just banter, Mr Goodwin!)
I'm still gutted my ... Read moresister-in-law's bearded clamola didn't get me a pre-release signed copy of Best Served Cold. (I don't know if it does look like a badger in a trap - I'll take her word for it!!)
