Horror fans needed for filming at the National Media Museum
Photographer and video artist Robbie Cooper is looking for subjects for his forthcoming exhibition Immersion, opening at the National Media Museum next year. Immersion, opening in March 2010, will explore the many ways in which people disengage from everyday l...ife and immerse themselves in media. Robbie’s unusual technique records viewers “through-the-screen” as they interact with television, films and games. The portraits depict psychological and emotional responses in revealing video stills that combine a candid, voyeuristic intensity, with a highly produced and beautifully finished look. Together, they portray a society transfixed by images. So far Robbie has captured people playing video games and watching adult movies. In November he will be filming new material, including babies entranced by programs designed for the under 3’s and the agony and the ecstasy of sports fans watching their favourite team. He also wants to record horror fans absorbed by gore – and this is where you come in!
Filming will take place in the Museum on Friday 20 & Saturday 21 November. You will be required for approx 2 hours during the day, refreshments will be provided. The best results will be displayed in the exhibition alongside Robbie’s existing work. All participants will receive a copy of their image. If you’re willing to be filmed by Robbie for Immersion please contact Lucy Davison, Exhibition Organiser, lucy.davison@nationalmediamuseum.org.ukRead more

The Hyde Park Picture House One of the films we're most excited about at the festival is STINGRAY SAM. A few years ago director Cory McAbee did a Q&A at the picture house with his film AMERICAN ASTRONAUT and both the film and his charm blew us away so we're so pleased he's heading back to little old England with a new offering.
