Liloveve Gallery presents Assemblages, an exhibition of imaginings by David Goldin.

Illustrator and junk collector extraordinaire, David Goldin has created a world of busybodies, geniuses and imbeciles that spring from his collection; a collection of characters assembled from found objects, wood, paint, wire, and, of... course, junk that animate the space they occupy with lively conversations and wild gestures. These characters tell a story in a moment of time–the viewer is unaware of a beginning or ending.

Experience Goldin's characters as they invade the gallery at Liloveve on Friday, October 23rd.

About David Goldin:

David Goldin writes and illustrates children’s books, and has worked as a professional illustrator for major US magazines and newspapers. Goldin also designs toys & packaging for toy producers as well as his own line: Tetanus Toys, the rusty, dangerous objects for children of all ages. When he's not playing with his kids or keeping the house from falling apart, he's chiseling stone heads, building sculptures and collages, and bringing inanimate objects to life. Goldin has traveled through India, Morocco, Southeast Asia and Africa collecting found object such as scraps of paper and bottle caps to use in collage works.

After graduating Rhode Island School of Design, Goldin went to work for R.O. Blechman at the Ink Tank. Concurrently, he worked for both Steven Heller at the NYT Review of Books and Tomi Ungerer as an assistant.
While freelancing, Goldin began working for the weeklies; TIME, Newsweek, Business Week, and Sports Illustrated. His work has since appeared in most major publications. He is currently working on a book series for National Geographic.

Client List includes: Atlantic Monthly, Rolling Stone, Fuji Bank, Atlantic Records, Business Week, Forbes, National Geographic , Oxford University Press, New York Times, Newsweek, Time, Sports Illustrated, New Yorker, Coca-cola, MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, Audubon, Disney, Houghton Mifflin, Harry Abrams, Scholastic, Klutz, and a whole lot more.

Liloveve Gallery presents Time Lapse, an exhibition of drawings by Illustrator Katie Welty.

Katie Welty illustrates women in detailed worlds that are inspired by art history, her imaginings and the mundane. The drawings in this series examine solitude and it’s affects on the passage of time. Often found waiting, lost i...n thought or, when sleepwalking, the subjects are oblivious to their surroundings.

The title of the exhibition is taken from Welty’s description of the illustrated women, where “time passes outside their experience of it passing; yet these subjects appear to express no interest.” These women are in worlds that let time go, so lost that the viewer may wonder how long they have been waiting or shall continue to wait.

The Time Lapse exhibition is accompanied by jewelry designs from the permanent collection by Caroline Glemann.

About the artist:
Katie Welty is an Illustrator living in Brooklyn, NY. Welty has served as the Registrar for Exhibitions and International Loans at the Brooklyn Museum for the past eight years. Prior to this position, Welty invested five years as the Assistant Registrar at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
