Important change: When searching for Pinyin words, do not use spaces to separate the individual syllables. This will work: nihao, beijing, zhong1wen2 This won't work: ni hao, bei jing, zhong1 wen2 Pinyin word searches now behave the same way as Chinese words searches....

A lot of Chinese students have the same problem: they can’t remember the tones of Chinese words. The pinyin sticks in mind, but tones are simply not something we are used to remember. Expressing tones with colors brings an additional way for associating a word with a tone.

Partially inspired by the hoopla about zhēteng 折腾, this is first in a new series (of at least one post) about words that are difficult to translate into English. Today’s contestant:
A lot of words in the dictionary now have Classifiers (also called Measure words) added to them. You can recognize them by the 'CL:' prefix, for example: CL: 個｜个.
Is there any good Web Feed / RSS application for facebook? All the ones we tried till now either don't work, don't support Chinese or simply look horrible.
