Why aren't we doing this? And how come China is a 'developing' country and we are a 'developed' country being asked for money when China is generations ahead of us in wealth and technology? I don't get it at all.
China outlines plans for a fast, fourth-generation nuclear power plant,
in the WSJ: “The project underscore...s how China is trying to take a lead
in developing cutting-edge nuclear technologies at a time it is
planning a massive buildup in its fleet of civil nuclear reactors.” But
the need for uranium “is likely to intensify its buying of foreign
assets — a scenario already playing out with its other energy sources:
oil, gas and coal.”

"The New York Times
reports that "the United Nations Adaptation Fund, which officially
began operating in 2008 to help poor countries finance projects to
blunt the effects of global warming, remains an empty shell, largely
because rich nations have failed to come through with the donations
they promised." The fund has a ris...ible $18 million, which might not
cover the cost of Copenhagen conference.

There they will experience more futility
because of, among other things, two stubborn facts -- the two most
populous nations.

On Oct. 21, China, the world's leading emitter of
greenhouse gases, and India, which ranks fourth -- together they
account for 26 percent of emissions -- jointly agreed: They, with their
combined one-third of the world's population, will not play in what
increasingly resembles a global game of climate-change charades."

So that is a definate NO from China and India. Why not kill what is left of our industries and double the cost of living just for fun?

Remember
they (Labor) gave $100 million to build houses in the outback for
aboriginals because they are living in third world conditions. How many
houses could you build if someone gave you $100 million??? well so far
no houses have been built however over $70 million of the budget has
been spent on committee's. What...
is g...oing on? And why hasn't the Liberal government bought this to
public attention. If your black and live in the desert you must not
mean much to people in Australia.

Suggested solution to the issue of the Oceanic Viking & other potential boats: Outsource the problem to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR, the administrator of this elusive “queue” we’re always hearing about). Build a facility for the UNHCR, give them the money, the employees, everything they nee...d, to set up a new outpost and halfway house in the South Pacific, and let them manage all the unauthorised arrivals.Read more

stiil think though that these people on the Viking now, need to repatriated. Can't have them TELLING Australia, what they want , when and where. I am sure there are other worthy people, asylum seekers of you like, who would like to come here ligitimately

Malcolm Turnbull , Mate, these "asylum seekers" on the Oceanic Viking, are they not holding Australia and the crew of the ship to ranson at the present? If to, surely under maritime law it's considered Piracy and therefor makes these "asylum seekers" subject to international law and liable to be arrested and tried in a... Court of Law? What makes their actions any different from say, the Somali pirates?Read more

Jillian Blackall I just posted a status update saying that I think Australian taxpayers will pay the price for Labor's reckless spending. If you agree with this, please post it as your status for the rest of the day.

Jillian Blackall There is a lot of concern being expressed here about the ETS. I genuinely trust that, in terms of the role the Coalition has to play, Malcolm will get the balance right between the environment and the economy.

At the present time Australia needs a Statesman and an opposition leader to bring the fight to the treasonous PM we have in power. We cannot let this matter role through with the softly softly approach that appears to be now taken. The Copenhagen agreement will be binding, there is no effective out clause, the agreemen...t only deals with enforcement and penalties, it is the world government that has been talked of for years and the excuse now is the “Environment”.Read more
