OwnAFilmCompany.com Not close enough ;-). We're about to launch a redesigned site and start an advertising campaign, but in the mean time, please ask your friends to become fans on here and register on the site. Thanks!

OwnAFilmCompany.com A private company can issue shares to its members and they remain members. They do not become directors.

OwnAFilmCompany.com It would have to be something quantifiable, like money made, awards received etc. It would be very unfair for us to influence the voting by saying whether or not their films were "good". Our idea of a good film and our members' ideas of a good film may be completely different.

The basic CV details of those that apply for the jobs, will be posted on the website, with vote buttons. By basic, I mean no personal details and not enough information to put the applicant at risk of identity fraud, or to breach their privacy. The information will be something along the lines of has X years experien...ce and has prduced x short films, and x feature films. The genres they have produced, how successful their films have been etc.Read more

Hi Everyone
Thanks for your posts. This is a new project, so we really do appreciate your feedback.
Hopefully this will answer your questions. I’ve addressed some people directly, but this is aimed at everyone, as some questions were similar to others, or have been answered in the replies to others.

Russell, you’re right, not everyone knows a good script from a bad one, but hopefully with 100,000 people, there will be enough that do, to make it work. Maybe 100,000 is a bit ambitious. It depends on what way you look at it. When you consider that most websites struggle to get 2000 registered users in their first ...year, it seems a lot, but when you consider that there are 15 million people in London alone, and this is open to anyone in the world, 100,000 isn’t many. We don’t expect to get that many overnight. Will know it will take a while. That is why we won’t ask anyone to pay until we have that many, because it’s unfair for people to pay then have to wait months before anything happens.Read more

Jason, anyone can write the script. Once we have 100,000 paid up members, we will ask for plot outline and vote for their favourite.
Andy, members will vote for the script, and then the producer, director, casting director etc, but once appointed, the producer, director, etc will be left alone to get on with their job.... Users won’t get to vote on every little detail, just the dig ones, like script, producer, director etc. The producer, director etc will not apply for the job until after the script has been chosen, so hopefully won’t apply unless they believe in the script. Once appointed, they will be left to their own creative devices.

David, the Casting Directors/Directors, Writers, producers, Actors etc will be voted for by the members. Obviously they can’t vote for all the actors, but they will vote for the lead actors and casting director. I see your point about not letting anyone invest, but it would be an administrative nightmare to check eve...ryone’s credentials before they are allowed to join. Also, we are targeting our advertising at people working in or towards this industry, and the majority of people not working in or towards the industry won’t be interested in joining anyway, so the majority of members will be those working in or towards the industry. We are hoping that 100,000 will give us enough quality control so that bad scripts won’t get through, even if a few people do vote for them.Read more
