Pictures meet one of the greatest challenges facing any ESL teacher, finding a teaching tool that is flexible enough to work across levels and at any stage of the lesson. Pictures can provide access to meaning for all learners during the presentation of the lesson content and then trans...form into the basis of myriad practice, evaluation, and application activities. Of course, finding these pictures can become its own challenge. Imagine then, having on hand more than 4000 pictures and hundreds of communicative language lessons and activities based on the essential topics learners need. You would be imagining the Oxford Picture Dictionary (OPD).
In this webinar, Jayme Adelson-Goldstein, the author of the OPD, will demonstrate five ways to use the rich visual resource as a presentation tool, and then share a variety of practice activities and their multilevel adaptations. By the end of the session, participants will be able to answer these five questions:
What are the key elements of multilevel instruction?
How can a single picture support different levels of instruction?
How can learners work effectively in synchronous same-level groups?
What role does technology play in multilevel instruction?
How does the OPD program support multilevel instruction?
---------------------------------------- ---------------
About the Presenter:

Jayme Adelson-Goldstein has been a member of the ELT community for more than 25 years. In addition to classroom instruction, she has focused on curriculum development and teacher education for adult and secondary ESL.
Her workshops and talks on multilevel instruction, vocabulary development, cooperative learning, questioning strategies and learner-centered instruction have been well received throughout the U.S. and Canada, and most recently, online. Ms. Adelson-Goldstein is also the series director of Oxford's Step Forward: Language for Everyday Life. Read more
