Treating more patients, faster. Waiting lists are down to their lowest ever. Under the Tories, waiting lists went up by 400,000. With Labour, they have fallen by over 600,000...

Very funny Liam I liked your last line as that is just like the rest of the nation feels over Cameron.

As Labour did invest in the NHS and did explain to the nation the reasons why it's important for everyone in society to have a health service free at the point of use and not from how much is in your bank account.

Labour found solutions to problems of neglect of the service under the Tory's from chronic underfunding, endless waiting lists, crumbling buildings, staff on poverty pay and lack of essential equipment. ... See More

That is positive action for the good of all and making sure society is fair for all. I do not recall anything a host of Tory leaders said when Labour was fixing the problems the Conservatives left that would have solved any part of the NHS.

I remember they just grumbled and pretending they had answers. So just like today and David Cameron. So no change there then.

Cameron's daft claim to pretend they are the party of the NHS is just that daft. The Conservatives do not understand the NHS and just like they do not understand the importance of fairness in society.

If Cameron was to win all we would see would be endless private hospital beds. With a tiny number of hospital beds for non rich people on underfunded wards.

If you read my post then I did say there is a lot more to do and given its one of the biggest employers in the world its of no surprise that more needs doing. Yet the fact remains Labour created the NHS and its only Labour that can take the NHS into the next 60 years.

The staff do a fantastic job and its right they are supported in the service and by government. However I doubt you would find many who would want to see the Conservatives running the NHS as then that would mean a two tier system and that is good for nobody.

60 years ago, Labour created the NHS. It was born in a society where healthcare was exclusive, expensive and unavailable for many ordinary people. To most citizens, illness meant desperation, suffering and even destitution...

Since 1997, investment in the NHS has trebled to £100 billion. This has paid for 38,000 more doctors, 80,000 more nurses, over a hundred new hospitals, new community health centres and the shortest waiting times since records began....

I think targets are too idealistic. In my experience, targets such as the four hour wait in A&E re: treat/ discharge/ admittance, although fantastic for patients in that area can have a negative impact on the staff and patients in other hospital departments.Finding beds for A&E patients within a short period of time can cause stress and disruption... See More for patients already on the wards; moving them around and even discharging them to accommodate others mostly creates resentment and distrust in the medical profession. To add to this, if staff in a&e fail or 'breach'; the department is fined; demoralising staff but more importantly taking funds from the trust which will ultimately affect the patients!
Before targets are made, the impact of them have to be thought through better.
