Greens MLC Mark Parnell has condemned the decision to go ahead with the Bald Hills Drain near Kingston in the South East.

Around 200 Mt Barker Council residents at a packed public meeting last night expressed strong concerns with the influence of property developers driving development changes, and called for the community to have a much bigger say in the major land-use changes underway in the District.

Greens MLC Mark Parnell has described the 30 year Plan for Greater Adelaide as a two speed plan - fast-tracked sprawl on the fringes alongside slow progress on transit-orientated development in the inner-city.

In 1977, Harvey Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, becoming the first openly gay man to be voted into public office in America. His victory was not just a victory for gay rights; he forged coalitions across the political spectrum. From senior citizens to union workers, Harvey Milk changed the very nature of what it means to be a fighter for human rights and became, before his untimely death in 1978, a hero for all Americans
Directed by Gus Van Sant who has elicited an amazing performance from Sean Penn as gay activist Harvey Milk. For more info visit http://www.filminfocus.com/focusfeatures /film/milk/
The Greens have a strong track record of defending the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people. We believe all members of our community are entitled to equal treatment before the law and by the community. Diversity of sexuality and gender identity is a part of our community, and our laws should reflect this. Before the film there will be an opportunity to find out more about current Greens activities on LGBTI issues in the parliament.

TWILIGHT - Greens Movie Fundraiser - Sunday December 21st at 1pm onwards (film screens at 1.45) $15/$18
Every ticket includes a drink (beer/wine/softie) so get along early for some lively or languid pre-movie chat.
Here's the SMH review: EDWARD CULLEN is a vampire who likes to think of himself as a vegetarian. On this n...ovel premise, Stephenie Meyer, the author of Twilight, has launched a publishing juggernaut. Her series of supernatural romances has hooked teenage readers the world over. But even before Twilight was published, a savvy group of American producers bought the screen rights. Now, with the film's successful release in the US, they've realised they have the makings of that prized box-office commodity: a franchise.
But back to the vegetarian vampire who hasn't extinguished his blood lust in favour of prune juice. He has made an impressive sacrifice in restricting his diet to animal blood.
This takes willpower. Just how much is evident from the scene in which he first setvíce

http://scott-ludlam.greensmps.org.au/tv
was trawling for greens anti censorship on the net stuff and came across Scott Ludlam's question - wait for the the follow up - it's is a doozy:D
Minister Conroy doesn't answer it though - of course, perhaps his real answer was "filtered"???

South Australian Greens
Hi Racheal (and anyone else interested in this issue)
On the so-called "Clean Feed" scheme to "filter" the internet for we Aussies who apparently can't be trusted to think for ourselves - Greens' Senator Scott Ludlam is handling this one quite well
- he was on Triple J recently and had this to say: http://scott-ludlam....greensmps.org.au/content/greencast/scott -triple-js-hack-net-filtering
- keep an eye on his web site for updates and i am sure it won't be the last you hear from the Greens on this:D více
