Brahms Symphony No 2
Lehár The Merry Widow (excerpts)

Russell Keable conductor

Building on their triumphant performance of Mahler's Second Symphony in February, the University Symphony Orchestra and Choir will perform one of the 19th Century's most exciting and dramatic Symphonies, Brahms Second Symphony. From its w...armly lyric opening to the exuberant finale, the ravishing strings to the wonderful woodwind solos, it will provide a warm glow on an autumn evening.

The concert will also feature extracts from Lehár's ever-popular The Merry Widow, including the famous 'Vilia' song.

Tickets: £7.50, £3 students

Program to be decided.

An informal and fun evening that showcases the enormous range of musical styles and the huge talents of the various bands and performers within the Department of Music and Sound Recording. We can't describe an evening which might include Morris dancing and folk music, cover versions or new works..., experimental jazz, electronic improvisation, solo singer/songwriters...

As the name suggests, it is free admission, coupled with a highly relaxed atmosphere in which the audience are free to come and go as they please.
