Vedad has extended his contract with 1899 Hoffenheim until 2013.
Vedad Ibišević had a perfect first half of the German Bundesliga 2008-2009 season. His club Hoffenheim, newly promoted to their first ever season in the Bundesliga were top of the table with 11 wins and 2 draws in 17 games, Ibišević being an important element to the success scoring and assisting consistently. He gained 18 goals and 7 assists in 17 games, leading the Top Goal scorer table. At the winter break Ibišević suffered a serious injury. His team have been hit badly and have been steadily dropped down to 7th in the table with his absence.
In the winter break, Ibisevic ruptured a cruciate ligament in his right knee in a friendly against Hamburg SV. It usually takes 6 months to recover from this type of injury. This is likely to mean that Ibisevic will be out for the rest of the season.
Ibisevic was voted Bundesliga player of the month for October, 2008. These achievements are also thanks to the whole Hoffenheim squad who are on fantastic form. Vedad also has a great bond with his Bosnian team mate Sejad Salihović.
Ibišević and his family left Bosnia and immigrated the USA in 2001, there Ibišević was quickly recognised as one of the biggest talents in the region. He is fluent in the Bosnian, English, French and German languages. Once given the job as the official translator during training in Alemannia Aachen.
Ibisevic has played for the Bosnian national side since 2007. He is not always a regular striker due to competition with Edin Dzeko and Zlatan Muslimovic, but with his recent form this is all to change. In Bosnia's recent November friendly against Slovenia, Ibisevic played the full game scoring 2 goals.
