Some of you may know that we’ve recently been invited to move into some office space by the lovely people at METAL. METAL (http://www.metalculture.com) was formed in 2002 by South Bank artistic director and Liverpool born Jude Kelly OBE, to create supportive space for organisations, artists, musicians and performers, ...and they have renovated the original building on platforms 1 & 2 of Edge Hill station as office, studio, performance, exhibition, rehearsal and public space.
Thursday 22nd October 2009 will be the official opening of the venue as well as an art exhibition that celebrates the event. Inspired by the scouse sexual pun XXX: Getting Off At Edge Hill is an exhibition exploring the sexual and industrial metaphors / descriptions in painting, sculpture and film. The artists include METAL residents and Liverpool Art Prize winners Al & Al, Richard Meaghan, Nicki McCubbing, Jodie Mellor, Imogen Stidworthy, Jenny Porter and many more.
We’d love it if you could come along to the launch, check out the exhibition and help us celebrate our new HQ (only 1 stop from Lime Street) on Tunnel Road, L7 6ND. There’ll be some refreshments followed by an after show party at Leaf Tea Shop & Bar, 27 Parliament Street, L8 5RN.
This is a FREE event but we’d be grateful if you could RSVP info@culturepool.org.uk or 0151 236 0796 as it’s going to be a pretty busy night so having an idea of numbers will really help. The launch starts at 6.30pm and the after show party begins at 9pm.
NB. All details correct at time of publication.
