Alan Gregory Wonderwheel I have given up on Obama leading. He won't lead us out of Aghanistan because the war profiteeers control congress and the military and his own administration. Only the people can lead us out of Aghanistan and force Obama to follow.
Frances Stone I have felt really good about Obama and moving us forward in a positive direction, but if he expands the war in Afghanistan I will have to part company with him on it. I just can't justify the lives and money it is costing us when our own country is in such shambles and we need to be spending more energy and time in fixing ourselves. I just think it is the wrong war with a no win for all.

Mark Lampkin In attending a Veteran's Day ceremony today, I heard two of the presenters say that one day when we will not need to send our citizens out to war... made me think about why are we even in Afghanistan. How much money...how many lives...must be lost in pursuit of what? I honor those who are doing their duty...and challenge those who make the decisons....WHY? PEACE!

As a Vietnam War veteran (another quagmire), I can say without reservation that we're on a path that will not only cost more lives and waste more resources, but eventually will end in another loss for the U.S. military. We should have learned the lessons of Afghanistan from the Russians and the Brits. Their efforts fai...led! The money that's being wasted in these wars of choice could be better used putting Americans back to work, improving our education and health care systems (health care for all!), and upgrading our infrastructure. The only Americans that benefit from war are those fat cats that invest in war industries and they are not sitting along side those brave Americans faced with death each day.Read more
