If or how badly Obama wants to pull out of Afghanistan, we'll never know, at least not for decades. Here's what prior presidents who opposed the Pentagon and CIA were then subjected to, and what Obama undoubtedly faces. So, it's up to us to demand a pullout from Afghanistan. And like everything we're trying to achieve..., domestically and internationally, it will not be easy, so get ready, and try just a little bit harder!Read more

Americans harbor a quaint belief a new president takes charge of a govt. eagerly awaiting his orders. But there are huge power centers that have their own agendas.
Casey Pfeiffer

Casey Pfeiffer No matter which side of the war debate you are on, everyone should rethink their opinion of Afghanistan and consider the opinion of the current vets who have been there. Sign the petition, if you agree with them.

your profile: President @Barack Obama, expanding the war in Afghanistan
will make Americans less safe and will drain billions of dollars from
the US economy when we can least afford it. Reject McChrystal's troops
request, exit US forces from Afghanistan now.

Too many critical questions surround the war in Afghanistan that only public debate and Congressional oversight hearings can answer. These deliberative hearings have been an historical cornerstone of government ...

Alan Gregory Wonderwheel I have given up on Obama leading. He won't lead us out of Aghanistan because the war profiteeers control congress and the military and his own administration. Only the people can lead us out of Aghanistan and force Obama to follow.

Frances Stone

Frances Stone I have felt really good about Obama and moving us forward in a positive direction, but if he expands the war in Afghanistan I will have to part company with him on it. I just can't justify the lives and money it is costing us when our own country is in such shambles and we need to be spending more energy and time in fixing ourselves. I just think it is the wrong war with a no win for all.

Ivan Arteaga

Ivan Arteaga Did anyone watch the Daily Show last night? When John Oliver was with Jon Stewart comparing the Soviets, and the current situation... oh so funny, yet painfully true!!!

Chris Catalfamo

Chris Catalfamo I love Obama--but the big fools in the Joint Chiefs say to push on. The prez has to command the military, not vice versa. Basic democratic tenet.

Thomas

Thomas duh hello were the only country in the world thats used nukes, twice! 40,000 will just clear the way ask how many drones were sending in?

happy veterans day. solemn reminder of who we are as a nation. all respect.

Mark Lampkin

Mark Lampkin In attending a Veteran's Day ceremony today, I heard two of the presenters say that one day when we will not need to send our citizens out to war... made me think about why are we even in Afghanistan. How much money...how many lives...must be lost in pursuit of what? I honor those who are doing their duty...and challenge those who make the decisons....WHY? PEACE!

Jill Dalton

Jill Dalton Afghanistan is our current Vietnam. When will we ever learn? Bring our troops home now or reinstate the draft and then see how fast these wars stop.

Joy Fox

Joy Fox on veteran's day, what could be a more fitting tribute than to stop the senseless maiming and killing?

Clark W Nicholls

Clark W Nicholls Take some of the war money and buy ALL of the poppy crop every year and make medicine out of it. Bring the troops home now!

Charles Phillips

As a Vietnam War veteran (another quagmire), I can say without reservation that we're on a path that will not only cost more lives and waste more resources, but eventually will end in another loss for the U.S. military. We should have learned the lessons of Afghanistan from the Russians and the Brits. Their efforts fai...led! The money that's being wasted in these wars of choice could be better used putting Americans back to work, improving our education and health care systems (health care for all!), and upgrading our infrastructure. The only Americans that benefit from war are those fat cats that invest in war industries and they are not sitting along side those brave Americans faced with death each day.Read more

It is my belief that the best way to support our troops is to bring them home, get them out of harm's way, educate them, and to give them work rebuilding America. With the money we save on bombs we could pay them a decent salary and take care of their families. We could deploy them on our own borders to stop illegal im...migration, and to check terrorist before they ever get in. Just a simple thought from a regular guy!Read more
