There then follows a race for those adults over 16 who have never raced before and wish to try their hand at the sport. The supporting senior event will precede the main event and is for riders who race regularly but are not full time riders. The finale for the evening will be a one-hour race for the best riders in the Country. Northern Rock Cyclone Challenge.
A series of 3 rides of differing distances and difficulty to test all those who compete. The rides start and finish at the Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club, Kingston Park, and take participants on quiet country lanes out into the spectacular Northumberland countryside. You can choose to ride the 33 mile, 63 mile or 104 mile route depending on your fitness levels.
Each competitor will be given a T shirt and Goody Bag upon completion and will be able to download their own personalised certificate from the Marathon Photos website. The Cyclone Challenge is not a race, so competitors can stop off at the many pubs and cafes en route and enjoy a well earned rest and sample the local cuisine!

The Beaumont Trophy Premier Calendar Road Race.
This is your chance to come down and watch the professionals at work! The Beaumont Trophy is one of the major national events that will be used by the selectors to pick future Teams to represent the Country. One each lap there will be a Hot Spot sprint in Stamfordham plus primes on each of 4 ascents of the Ryals.

The event was won in 2009 by Bradley Wiggins Team Garmin Slipstream who went on to ride a fantastic Tour de France.

The RNLI was tired of the constant negative media reporting about young people so we decided to do something about it. After all, 470 of our charity’s young volunteer crew members and lifeguards are aged between 17 and 22, so we know the younger generation has a lot to be proud of.

See what we’re doing to rewrite the ...headlines about youth. Visit http://www.youtube.com/rnlishout to find out more about our YouTube campaign.

Please help spread the word; forward the link on to as many young people as possible, and ask them to visit the site and get involved.

The media has called young people of Britain hoodies, thugs, even animals. Yet fewer than 1 in 10 articles about us actually quotes anything we say or any good we do. It's not right. It's not fair. And ...

I SO agree with Mary.... it's only a few bad eggs that seem to spoil it.... but she is right... there are good and bad in all ages. I would be so very proud of one of my children if they volunteered for this cause or for any cause for that matter. I lost my Father to the sea so I know how special you all are at the RNLI ... sadly for us he died in ... My 19 yr old daughter is a member of the West Kirby RNLI crew, and has been since February 2008. There are several other young members of that crew, all of them very committed to what they do - we should be very proud of all of them.
