Stephen Beasley

Stephen Beasley Having spoken to the Citizens Advice Bureau recently, feel there's problems with how Local Authority address people, who for personal and financial reasons, cannot pay their Council Tax and fall behind with payments.

Local Authority then impose a statutory court hearing and charge the resident a Summonds Costs at £50.0...0 and additional Liability Costs at £40.00 which only increases their existing debt by £90.00? Surely, a better solution would be to listen to the resident and find out why they're behind and what solution can be compromised to help the situation? As increasing the debt with unnecessary court and Liability costs does not help the already difficult situation which could affect people's health, and also not waste unnecessary Court time.
