Sir Alfred Patrick Caldwell-Moore, who we all know as Patrick Moore is a man of legendary status. He's our resident amateur astronomer and is credited as having done more than any other to raise the profile of astronomy among the British general public.
On the 6th of May 2007, a special edition of The Sky at Night was broadcast on BBC1 to commemorate the programme's 50th anniversary.
Patrick appears in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest-serving TV presenter, by virtue of having presented the show since 1957.
