Stonewall BBC coverage of the Trafalgar Square vigil

Source: news.bbc.co.uk
A vigil for victims of hate crime has taken place in Trafalgar Square just yards away from the scene of an assault which resulted in a gay man's death.

I'm fully supportive of the vigils that took place in London and Liverpool this weekend. They remind us that we cannot afford to be complacent about homophobia. That both attacks were by groups of teenagers reminds us of the considerable importance of Stonewall's Education for All Campaign that aims to eradicate homophobia in schools and other educational institutions.

A very impressive publication! Great, too, to see so many organisations represented that formerly discriminated against LGB people via their recruitment policies.

Bi-phobia is unfortunately something that a lot of gays and lesbians either turn a blind eye to or actively encourage, causing the majority of bisexual people I know to live in either 1 of 2 closets - the str8 one or the gay one. Because, believe it or not, it can be easier to be gay than bi. When you are bi the straights think you're just an easy ... Read moreshag and the gays think you should make up your mind. Bisexuality is a valid sexuality in its own right and we should all respect that. And we should continue to challenge bi-phobia in our own community.

What do DJ Spoony and the Bishop of Winchester have in common? They’ve both made it on to Stonewall’s equivalent of traitor’s gate for making homophobic remarks this year.

Yes bishop of Winchester, homosexuality is just a matter of pure choice becuae it seems like a really good idea when you are 14 years old, surrounded by straight bullies who tell you gay is the worst thing you can possibly be! You idiot!

Stonewall Jan Moir responds to criticism of her Stephen Gately article

Source: www.dailymail.co.uk
Last week, I wrote in this column about the death of Boyzone star Stephen Gately. To my horror, it has been widely condemned as 'homophobic' and 'hateful'. Obviously, a great deal of offence has been taken and I regret any affront caused. This was never my intention.
