How does this page work?
Hi, I’m Kaol – welcome to my page. This page has been set up to provide information to anyone who is interested in a career in teaching. If you have a question for me or any of the other teachers on this site then please post a question on the wall. This page has been set up in association with the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) so there are also teaching career advisers available to answer questions about the practical aspects of getting into teaching – such as training routes and financial support.

Julia Lozano

Julia Lozano It would be perfect if it could be that easy... I am a fully qualified MFL (Spanish and English for Foreign Speakers) secondary teacher. I hold a QTS since April. I live in London, but I don´t have any experience in a school. Just freelance teahcing. I have sent probably 1000 Cv´s, covering letters and application forms. NO ONE is giving me a job.
Any ideas?

Alex Reynolds

Alex Reynolds Hey, do I need experience in a school to apply for a PGCE to teach in a primary school? Also do I need the experience before I apply or can I obtain the experience between applying and the course starting? Trying to get time off work but I've already used up all my holiday and wouldn't like my manager to know i'm leaving the company to go back to uni, thanks

Nadi

Nadi If your a primary teacher do you have to specialise in one subject or can you teach everything?

Holly

Holly Hi is there anyone on here who's looking to teach Geograhpy at secondary school level. I've just found out i've got an interview at Portsmouth to do my PGCE and i can't wait. Now i've just got to git another 15days work experience into my schedule. Not that over 2000 hours of classroom time doesn't seem to be enough for some people lol.

hi there, i'm a current undergrad student at goldsmiths university studying fine art with history of art, i would like to do a PGCE in art & design perhaps at secondary level or college level, do the levels correlate with how long your PGCE will take? Or are they taught differently if anything...or just that you simply... work in a college/secondary environment? Also, I'm quite interested in studying in the US, i'm not entirely sure of which state, but would my PGCE be valid over there? Or would I need to take another teaching course for that, over there, or here maybe? Thanks a lot!! And a great page you have here! :)Read more

Hi Shabana, I would suggest that at the moment you concentrate on achieving QTS and then finishing your NQT year to make sure that whatever happens you can always teach here in the UK. Schools overseas often welcome foreign teachers, but they would want you to bring experience with you as well as something different.
