Time to Change
Open Up is very proud and pleased to announce their Open Up Initiatives for 2009-2010.

Open Up is one of the Time to Change projects, and the Initiatives Scheme is Open Up’s programme of financial and practical support and encouragement, for people with experience of mental distress who want to set up their own anti-di...scrimination projects. We work with 16 Initiatives over a period of one year, to help them to get their projects up and running.

This summer we received over 90 applications for the Open Up Initiatives scheme. All were of a very high standard, which made the decision process slightly difficult - but after a lengthy discussion our excellent panel came up with 16 great projects - and we are very much looking forward to working with them all over the coming year.

To find out more about our 2009-10 Initiatives, visit the website: http://www.open-up.org.uk/initiatives/2009-10. And keep checking back for their profiles and blogs which will be coming soon.

I am stressed out at work. The process I have had to endure over the last 12 months has been appalling and has had a huge impact on me.The concerning thing is that my employer is a mental health organisation. How come that workers who 'play the system' are rewarded and the hard workers amongst us are marginalised? Time to change? I think so.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who went along to a Get Moving event, came and found us on the roadshow, or ran a campaign over the last couple of months.

It was a truly inspiring time, with tens of thousands of people getting together to raise the profile of mental health and challenge stigma.

If you have any feedback, pho...tos, videos or press cuttings from an event you took part in, please send it into the facebook page, and let us know your thoughts.

The campaign continues! If you haven't already, make a statement against stigma and sign our visual pledge, and ask your friends to do the same: http://www.facebook.com/timetochange?v=app_116666429436&ref=ts Or for more ideas on how to get involved, visit: http://www.time-to-change.org.uk/get-involved

It all culminates this weekend for World me...ntal health day - there are lots of things happening across the country...if you're in the capital, don't forget the big

We bumped into F1 driver superstar Damon Hill the other day - here's what he has to say about the benefits of Get Moving, and how it can challenge stigma:
"There is still a lot of stigma attached to mental illness, for some reason we seem to find it more difficult to talk about than other health problems. The irony is that talking about the problem can be part of the solution. People experiencing mental health problems such as depression can feel very alone and the Get Moving events are a great way to promote inclusion and also bring people together to tackle stigma."

Well said Damon, have a great Get Moving week everyone, and don't forget to send us pics of your events! http://www.time-to-change.org.uk/what-were-doing/get-movingWe'll
