The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien

The "Conan, Blow Up My Car" entries keep pouring in... And there are some GREAT ones!  Seriously.  I am really impressed/depressed at all these great submissions/terrible cars... On the one hand all the entries have been really great!  On the other hand, the entries are so great because the cars are such clunkers!!  Oh man.  I wish that we could give EVERYBODY a new car! 

But we can't.  Sorry.

We're feverishly putting up all the entries that we've gotten, and here are just a few out of the many that have been pouring in:

- This guy professionally installed his radio himself.

- I have a feeling that this entry would make quite an explosion.

- These folks fixed their windshield wiper in an... Inventive way.

- WHY IS THERE A GOAT IN THIS CAR?

I urge you to take a look at ALL of the great entries we've gotten so far - both Photos and Videos - and tell us which ones you like the best!  It won't have any bearing on the contest, but I think it's awesome to see all the different INSANE VEHICLES that y'all are driving out there! (For goodness sake, I hope you people are being careful out there on the road.  Seriously.  Like, buckle up or something)

One thing is for certain... Even if you don't get chosen to be the person who wins the new car, we ALL still win - BECAUSE WE ALL GET TO WATCH A CAR GET BLOWN UP ON NATIONAL TELEVISION!  Oh man.  CAN'T. WAIT.  I've been having dreams about this sweet explosion, people - and that's good for a number of reasons, not the least of which because it's replaced my usual dream of me having to fight off bloodthirsty Keebler elves who are trying to steal my eyeballs to bake them into their new cookies.  Don't ask.

Anyway, tonight on the show...



We've got the beautiful Sienna Miller, who's playing The Baroness in the new GI Joe flick!  Not to sound too creepy, but I've been waiting to see that role in a live action movie since I was 13, and she's looking H.O.T.T. in that trailer (the extra "T" stands for "HOT"). Ummm yeah. More like GI WHOA, you guys knowwhatimsayin?!  Ha ha ha!  ANYWAYS, we've also got our good friend Steven Schirripa on the program, as well as the hilarious standup comedy of Deon Cole!  AND IF YOU THOUGHT THAT WAS IT, YOU'D BE MIGHTY MISTAKEN... Because we've got yet another appearance from our two favorite creepy wax statues, Tom Cruise and The Fonz, and it's an appearance you're not going to want to miss.  Seriously.  It had everyone crying with laughter in rehearsal today!  My lips are sealed, though.  SEALED.  MMMhgmmhmmhmm!  (See?)

LONG STORY SHORT: We want you to submit a photo or video of your old clunker of a car, because we want to blow it up. Yes. We will pick one lucky winner, take their car, pack it full of explosives, drag it out into the desert, and BLOW IT UP. Then, we'll give that person A BRAND NEW LEXUS NO I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP IT IS REALLY HAPPENING.  How awesome is that?!  Super awesome and amazing and unbelievable and I cannot explain to you in mere written words how excited I am about this whole thing. Thank you, Lexus. Thank you for being so awesome. Also, thank you fire.  You are pretty much the sweetest thing ever.

If you haven't submitted anything yet, and you're wondering what kinds of things should be included in a video, my awesome intern Eric and I made a little sample submission to show you the kinds of things that we're looking for - and don't worry; even though Eric's car is SHOCKINGLY bad, Eric is ineligible!  Sorry, Eric.  Looks like you're gonna have to keep driving that beater. (Actually, I'll still blow it up for you, if you want - I mean, you won't get anything for it, but... We'll talk later).  Anyway, enjoy the sample video that Eric and I made:






Again, you don't have to make a video like this at all - we just thought it might help those who needed some guidance as to what to include. Just one thing to keep in mind: Whether you're submitting a photo or video, just please make sure to show us a wide shot of the car at some point. We might be showing some your entries on air, so it'd be nice to see the whole car in at least one shot. The submissions we've gotten so far are looking really great... So I'm hoping that this'll shape up into an awesome contest with a ton of hilarious clunker entries!  Starting tomorrow, we'll be posting your submissions right here on our website so you guys can enjoy everyone's entries as much as we here in the office are enjoying them!

Moving onto tonight's show...

We've got a very special treat tonight... HUMAN CANNONBALLS!  That's right, suckas!  Take a look at these sweet pics we snapped during rehearsal.  It was a little crazy, because we couldn't actually rehearse them shooting out of the cannons, because it's too hard on their bodies to be shot out of the cannons multiple times in the same day... So instead we shot out sandbags to get the right camera angles!  You know what this means: WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN TONIGHT ON THE AIR! 

*Gulp*

Aside from the crazy Human Cannonballs, we've also got Entourage's Jeremy Piven, and musica guest All American Rejects!  THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, SUGARSNAP!  Should be a sweeeeeeeet time!

MAX IS BACK!!  Heck yeah!  Max Weinberg has returned from the deep dark forest of Europe where he was touring with Bruce Springsteen and the rest of the E Street Band (I have no idea why they were playing music in deep dark forests over there, but it sounds like they had fun).  At any rate, it's great to have our big bad bandleader back to bang out the bumpin' beats!  Welcome back, Mr. Weinberg!

Tonight on the show - besides the return of Max and our longing to destroy someone's car - we've got master Tweeter Ashton Kutcher on the show; from the new flick "Paper Heart" writer/actress Charlyne Yi; and musical guest Gomez!  Goooooood stuuuuuuff.
