We were honoured to be part of the 2017 Broome NAIDOC Ball celebrations at the beginning of July.

We showcased a small group of our students from Broome Girls Academy and Broome Senior High School who, early in the term had completed our Hip Hop Collection program.

We received an overwhelming response from guests at the ball commenting on how proud and confident these amazing dancers looked while they performed in front of the audience.

...

They represented us so well! We are so happy that our jobs are filled with so many proud moments just like this one.

Thank you for having us Goolarri!

THE FIRST-EVER Broome Senior High School Girls Academy (BGA) Performance Showcase was held last Wednesday at Goolarri Media and it was a resounding success. We ...had more than 200 people attend the night which included a record number of families, both local and community, as well as past and present students. The night exceeded our expectations and was a perfect example of our girls ‘stepping up’. Over 20 girls performed on stage—singing and dancing— and more than 20 pieces of artwork were auctioned which included paintings, jewellery and dream catchers. The artworks were inspired by BGA Development Officer Tamara Albert and local artist Paul Boon. Music was organised by music teacher Rob Pascoe and the dancing choreographed by Alex Carkeek from Hip Hop Collaboration. The scrumptious food on the night was created by the famous “curry maker” Hasimah Haji-Noor along with our year 12 students Keshi Moore and Shontae Wade. Special thanks to these wonderful people for their continued support of our girls. Our fundraising efforts will go towards leadership camps for our students.

Our choreographer and teacher, Jerome spent time at Wanneroo Secondary College, Perth, to teach some Hip Hop to their Year 11 students. Jerome loved this group of energetic and respectful students - and loved watching them learn the pieces of choreography he taught!
